Short Break Cycle tour in Vietnam

Short Break Cycle tour in Vietnam
Short Break Cycle tour in Vietnam

A journey from Vietnam’s largest city all the way to its most beautiful island, this is an adventure that is easy on the legs, but broadens the mind.

Cycling the Delta is an experience you will never forget. As your guide takes you weaving through the canal trails and orchard paths, across ferries that sometimes only fit half a dozen people, and into the charming villages and towns that this area is known for. As much an eating tour as a biking tour, the cuisine of this area will delight as will the friendly, welcoming people.

Phu Quoc Island is something of a last frontier. It has only seen development of tourism infrastructure quite recently, but large swathes of the island are still relatively untouched with some lovely beaches and fishing villages ringing the forested hills of the interior.

Tour Features

Great bikes
Merida hardtail (front suspension only) mountain bikes in a full range of sizes. A comfortable saddle with a women’s specific version is available and we provide handlebar bags for your personal effects.
Clean beds
The eastern Mekong Delta is not known for its luxurious accommodation, but the hotel we use is clean, well run and comes with air conditioning and a private bathroom. The second night of the tour is in a homestay situation which is simple, but is sure to be a lasting memory of your experience in the Delta. The hotel on Phu Quoc is a relatively new, tastefully developed and supremely comfortable resort.
Two to ten
This tour is guaranteed for a minimum of just 2 travellers. And we limit the group size to only 10 travellers so that you get all the attention you want in an intimate group.
100% Hopper
This tour is 100% operated by Grasshopper Adventures. The guides are our full time employees, the hotels booked by our local office staff, and the bikes are part of our fleet of over 300 bikes. We are not outsourcing any element of this tour so you can be assured of 100% Grasshopper quality.
A beautiful souvenir Grasshopper cycling jersey is yours to wear and take home. We also provide a Grasshopper drink bottle as an extra memento.
Your host
An experienced English speaking, local guide will host you on this trip. Well spoken, well informed, and charming, our guides are often cited as being the main highlight of the tour. We use local guides who have a passion for their country and have a good understanding and affinity with the rural people as this is more than likely their own background. They can really help you to understand rural Vietnam and will help you to connect with the villagers you meet along the way. On this tour, you will be hosted part way by a Mekong Delta guide and hosted on the island by a Phu Quoc local.
More support
For groups of 5+ people a bike mechanic will join the group.
Much has been written and spoken on the topic of Vietnamese cuisine. The food of the Delta is suited to the climate, featuring delicious light soups and fish prepared in more ways than you can count. The vegetables are fresh and rice paper is put to good use. With the food being such a highlight this is as much a culinary tour as it is a cycling tour.
No surcharge for single travellers – we will match you with another same sex single traveller. If you want a single room there is a an optional upgrade that you can book.
